Some American bookmakers charge a 10% tax on the amount of the bet. This happens when the difference in odds between an outsider and a favorite is more than 100 points (according to the American odds).
For example, the bet on winning of a favorite is – 130, and the bet on winning of an outsider is +120. This means that in order to win $100 with a bet on the favorite, you have to bet $130, while if you want to win $100 with a bet on an outsider, you have to bet only $120.
