The Xcel Energy Center cash box holds a lottery for most events when tickets go on sale to the general public. The lottery procedure is used for safety and equity reasons for most trade shows at the Xcel Energy Center and the Roy Wilkins Auditorium. The informational procedures and notes are as follows:

Numbered bracelets will be distributed in numerical order, starting from one hour before the time of sale and ending 10 minutes before the time of sale. After receiving the bracelet, you can leave the room until you return to the draw. You must be present during the draw, otherwise you will lose your place. With no exceptions.

Approximately 10 minutes before the time of sale will be drawn one number. The carrier of the bracelet with this number will be designated as “first in line”. The rest of the lottery participants will line up in numerical order after the person and number, which is now designated as “first in line”. An employee of the building will help in organizing the line and ensuring guests are in the right order.

Shortly before the sale begins, the employee will send ticket buyers to designated windows to buy tickets in an orderly manner. One person at a time will be sent to the window.

From the ticket window, guests will indicate the number of tickets and the price range they want to purchase. The ticketing system automatically searches for the best available tickets. Only the best available places are sold at the time of sale; specific locations cannot be requested at this time. Once these guests in the line of sale have been assisted, the ticket office will be able to help with specific requests for finding tickets, depending on availability.

Atmosphere

The Wild is doing an amazing job of incorporating the State Hockey theme into the Xcel Energy Center. Most of the architecture in the arena implies a sense of a cabin in Northwoods, and the numerous lakes that Minnesota is famous for are also often mentioned.

Hockey sport is recognized by the inclusion of hockey T-shirts from every school in the state, as well as historical artifacts about sports roots in the state. Many of the original American players in the NHL were born in Minnesota or played hockey in college in the state. Products in the arena proudly proclaim Minnesota and the state of Hockey.

Neighborhood

As in most state capitals, St. Paul offers many attractions in and around the Xcel Energy Center. Ordway Performing Arts Center is located in the same RiverCentre complex as the arena. There are numerous state museums featuring certain aspects of the state of Minnesota in the general area of the Xcel Center. Regardless of your faith, a visit to St. Paul’s Cathedral is worth a visit. It rises above the hill overlooking the energy center Xcel and the Mississippi River and is characterized by stunning architecture.

Restaurants around Xcel Energy Center include Downfow Woodfire Grill, Tom Reid’s Hockey City Pub and Mickey’s Diner, a sentimental favorite that was featured in Mighty Ducks. Within walking distance of the House of Ice Wild there are two options for accommodation. These include the Saint Paul Hotel and the Holiday Inn Downtown Saint Paul Hotel.

The fans

For the indigenous Minnesota hockey is more than a game. This is part of life. The game is a link with previous generations, as well as with future generations, as children begin to play hockey at an early age. The term “hockey mom” was born here.

Fans of Minnesota Wild is a representative of this passion for the game. They are as vibrantly sung state anthem, as well as sing the National Anthem. You will see the flags of the state of Hockey, fluttering with banners Wild. After the goal, the cries of the fans almost drown out the foghorn’s festive sound. Nordy, the mascot of the Wild, is always on hand to lead the applause and entertain fans between periods.

The Hockey Lodge is a The Wild team store. It also carries goods from the Minnesota era of the Northern Stars, the State of Hockey and It Is Our Ice Lines.

Additionally

During the starting weekend of the season, Wild holds a Hocktoberfest. This street party includes tests for hockey themes, jumbotron, showing the features of the upcoming season, music, contests, food and cake.

In addition to the fact that Xcel Energy Center is the home ice for Wild, state school hockey championships are held here. Past competitions included the 2004 All Star game in the NHL, the NCAA Frozen Four in 2002, 2011 and 2018, as well as the US figure skating championships of 2008 and 2016. Adele, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift and Prince are just some of the performers who gave concerts in the center.

Every corner of the recreation area has a “crow’s nest” with an assigned function. In one corner there is an organ, made in the form of Zamboni, which provides musical entertainment for the crowd. The second corner shows the lighthouse with the fughorn, which sounds when Wild takes the ice, scores or wins the game. The third corner serves as a platform for the proclamation “Let’s play hockey!” Before each game. The fourth corner is used for special presentations and performances of the Wild dancing team.

You will see several statues of Peanuts characters dressed in wild uniforms throughout the arena. The creator of the peanut Charles Schulz was a native of St. Paul, and the city honored him by placing the statues of his various characters throughout the city.

Specifications

Halls contain a hockey jersey from every high school in Minnesota, hanging on the wall, which reflects the “state of hockey.” In all four corners of the arena are surrounded by “crow nests”. One depicts an organ embedded in the Zamboni shell, which is played during wild games. The second nest is a lighthouse in which there is a fire horn that explodes when the team takes the ice before the games, for all wild purposes and after the victory. The third is often used to “Let’s play hockey!” An ad before the puck to throw each game, as well as interviews, announcements, and fan contests. The fourth provides an additional stage for various purposes.

Before its opening, the arena was installed an integrated sound system, video display, information and advertising by Daktronics, based in Brookings, South Dakota. The system includes a large LED round display with a central mount and multiple displays, 340-meter ribbon display technology installed on the front panel, and large video displays outside the object. An array of 10 LED screens, the largest of which is 37.5 feet wide and 19 feet high. The arena replaced every seat in the building with soft seats.

History

The arena opened on September 29, 2000. It was built on the site of the destroyed Civic Center of St. Paul. The desire to create a new arena in St. Paul has increased after the National Hockey League “Minnesota North Stars” moved to Dallas. St. Paul unsuccessfully courted the Hartford Whalers and Winnipeg Jets NHL under mayor Norma Coleman, but the Citizens’ Center was an obstacle to both deals.

To get the NHL expansion team, St. Paul had to build a new arena. After several unsuccessful attempts to obtain financing, the project was funded by the state. The state granted St. Paul an interest-free loan of $65 million from a project worth $130 million, although the state has forgiven $17 million of this loan in exchange for sports competitions among schoolchildren played in the arena.

Minnesota Wild played their first game in the arena on October 11, 2000 against the Philadelphia Flyers. The game ended with a score of 3: 3. Peter White scored the first goal in the arena, and Darby Hendrickson scored the first goal for Wild. Wild won the first in the arena, where they defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-5.This continued until Wild was played in its first playoff play in the arena. In this game, Wild was defeated at 3-0 by the Colorado Avalanche. A week later, Wild won its first playoff 3-2 game over Richard Park’s overtime win.

ESPN called it the best sports complex in the United States. During this time, 10 million people passed through the gate.

The twin cities were chosen as the host capital for the Republican National Congress, and the arena was chosen as the main venue.

According to ESPN Magazine, the game Minnesota Wild in the “X” was named the third most important game in the stadium in North America. First on the list were the Minnesota twins and target field.

The Wild won their first playoff series in the arena, beating St. Louis Blues 4-1 in a game of six quarter finals at the Western Conference.

A politically motivated “Vote for Change” tour took place in the arena, featuring performances by Bright Eyes, REM and the Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band (with special guest John Vogerty and undeclared guest Neal Young).

The Minnesota WNBA Lynx used the Xcel Energy Center during the WNBA playoffs and played the full season in the arena, as their home arena, Minneapolis Target Center, was being renovated.
