Globe Life Park in Arlington

Globe Life Park in Arlington is a baseball park in Arlington, Texas, located between Dallas and Fort Worth. It is home to the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball and the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame. It was constructed as a replacement for nearby Arlington Stadium and opened in April 1994 as The Ballpark in Arlington. Ameriquest bought the naming rights to the ballpark and renamed it Ameriquest Field in Arlington.

The Rangers severed their relationship with Ameriquest and announced the park would be renamed Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company, a subsidiary of McKinney-based Torchmark Corporation, bought the naming rights for the facility on February 5, 2014.

Seating plan of the Globe Life Park

Club Level

When seated in your club seat you’ll enjoy a wider (22 inches) landing spot, in-seat wait service, and more leg-room. You’ll also have one of the best views of the field from a location behind home plate or on the infield.

If the Texas heat is too much or you’re just looking to roam around, you’ll have access to the climate-controlled club level concourse with special concessions and restrooms.

Commissioner’s Box

Aside from some of the closest views available at Globe Life Park, Commissioners Box ticketholders will also enjoy padded seats, and access to multiple club lounges which include the Stadium Club and Jack Daniels Club.

These seats are located on the outfield side of both dugouts and are a haven for getting a ball. Even if you don’t catch a foul ball, you’ll be incredibly close to players during warm-ups and when they run on and off the field. This provides a perfect opportunity to cheer on your favorite player, razz the opposing team or ask for a souvenir.

VIP Home Plate Seats

For the ultimate in high-class luxury, impressive views and all-around amenities, look no further than the home plate seats in sections 21-31. Each club seat is extra padded, extra large and is located within three rows of the field in the best spot for seeing Rangers baseball.

In addition to enviable sightlines, ticketholders will have access to the Capital One Club for an elevated look at the ballpark. Fans will find comfortable and relaxed seating options, along with multiple televisions and full-service bar areas. Club seat patrons will also be treated to a complimentary buffet featuring more than just the standard ballpark fare.

Capital One Club

Globe Life Park features many great seats, but the Capital One Club offers superior views to home plate while also offering state of the art amenities. Guests seated in the Capital One Club level can enjoy a full buffet from the time the ballpark gates open through the 3rd inning. Beginning in the 4th inning season ticket holders with seats in the Premium Infield, Lower Infield, Lexus Club Infield, and the Lexus Club Box can enjoy the Capital One Club as it converts to bar service with a mini buffet.

The Capital One Club is in between the 100 and 200 level of Globe Life Park and stretches across in front of sections 225-227. The 9,100 square foot club was renovated in 2013 and features a top tier and bottom tier for fans to relax and take in a Rangers game and enjoy the buffet and bar service.

Best Seats for Kids and Family at Globe Life Park

When bringing the family to a Rangers game at Globe Life Park, there are a number of different price points to consider, and a few attractions you don’t want to miss. The first place to put on your list if you’re bringing young kids is the Kids Zone in center field. This air-conditioned play area is open until the bottom of the 7th inning and is full of interactive activities, video games and other kid-friendly attractions. If this area is likely to be popular among your group, consider seats in the outfield to shorten your walk to the Kids Zone. You’ll also be near the Bowtie Plaza where adults can escape for a drink and a variety of concessions.

If you’re looking for an easy day out at the ballpark and don’t mind spending a few extra bucks to have everything included with your ticket, bring the family to the all-you-can-eat deck in sections 246-252. Instead of standing in line and paying for multiple trips to the concession stands, simply head towards air-conditioned Home Run Porch for unlimited ballpark food, soft drinks and chicken sandwiches. This will give you the opportunity to walk into the ballpark and never have to open your wallet. For most games, these seats will only set you back about $30-$40.

When bringing family who may be sensitive to the sun, pay close attention to seats that are protected from the element. RateYourSeats.com offers a shade finder, which will help you find shaded seats for afternoon ballgames. In general, you’ll do well to sit in the 100s sections, in the outfield seats in right field or at the top of the upper deck.

Other Considerations

  • Section 335 is a no-alcohol section meant for kids and families to enjoy an alcohol-free and profanity-free day at the park.

Best Seats for Getting a Ball at Globe Life Park

Globe Life Park is one of the best parks in the big leagues to come home with a souvenir. Whether you’re aiming for a foul ball or a home run, the stadium’s reputation as a hitter’s paradise ensures that plenty of balls make it to the seats.

The lower level of Rangers Ballpark is one of the largest in the major leagues. As a result, a number of foul balls end up in these seats, making these the best choice for fans who wish to go home with a souvenir. In particular, looks towards sections 12-19 and 33-39. This is where the highest number of batted balls end up. And if you don’t end up with one off the bat, the players in the nearby dugouts are close enough to toss you a ball.

Not only does Rangers Ballpark provide fans with a number of foul ball opportunities, it’s also one of the friendliest home run ballparks in the big leagues. Unlike many other stadiums, the bullpens don’t swallow up home run balls that are hit down the line. Sit in any one of the lower outfield sections and there’s a good chance a ball comes within a few seats of yours.

If you’re bringing a kid to the game (aged 9-14), you may want to consider sections 51 and 52 in center field. These sections are adjacent to the greenery that sees about two home run balls per month. If you’re lucky enough to attend a game where the ball is hit onto the grass, your child will have the opportunity to run onto the grass and race towards the ball and an unforgettable memory.

Best Seats for Impressing a Guest at Globe Life Park

For fans looking to impress a guest at a Rangers game, there are a number of seating options at different price points. These include multiple options at field level, along with premium seating on the club level.

Among the options at field level are the Commissioner’s Box seats that are located directly next to each team’s dugout. These seats offer one of the best balances between close proximity and club access. Ticketholders will enjoy the game from the same perspective as the players, and the chief complaint is usually that the seats are too close to the field. Before the game, stop by the Stadium Club for a meal and then head to the Jack Daniels Club post-game for a drink. You’ll have exclusive access to both club reception areas.

The Commissioner Boxes are the most exclusive seats at Rangers Ballpark. If those seats are unavailable – or if you’re simply looking for something closer to home plate – try the VIP Home Plate Seats in the first three rows of sections 21-31. Ticketholders in these seats will enjoy a pre-game buffet and access to the ultra-exclusive Captial One Club.

If you don’t mind sitting farther away from the field, consider bringing a guest to the club level seats in sections 217-235. You and your guests will enjoy in-seat wait service so you can spend more time together and less time at a concession stand. You’ll also have access to the climate-controlled club lounge if you need to escape the heat. These seats can often be found for as cheap as $30 and are often priced about 75% less than the VIP and Commissioner Box seats.

Best Seats for Partying and Socializing at Globe Life Park

Globe Life Park offers two main attractions when it comes to socializing with friends at a Rangers game. The Captain Morgan Club and Bowtie Plaza are both located in center field and are the entertainment hub of the ballpark.

The Captain Morgan Club is your best best for pre-game entertainment. This area offers a full bar and restaurant with plenty of indoor seating. Grab an early dinner and enjoy a rum cocktail as you get ready for Rangers baseball. The area is also home to a television and radio studio that often carry live broadcasts before the game.

Once the game begins, move the party to the Bowtie Plaza behind the greenery in center field. This part of the ballpark offers the widest range of concessions and adult beverages. The open-air plaza also features a number of tables and drink rails for guests to sit or stand at while enjoying a cold one. And despite not being able to see home plate from this area, a large television ensures you never miss a moment of the action.

Best Seats for Visiting Team Fans at Globe Life Park

Although it is set to be replaced by 2021, Globe Life Park is a fine destination for visiting fans. Relatively affordable tickets and good weather make the home of the Rangers a good place to catch a baseball game if you’re in the state of Texas.

If you’re at Globe Life Park to cheer on the away team, you’ll first want to consider seats that are near your favorite players. The visitor dugout is located on the first base side of the field, making sections 17-21 a popular landing spot for away team fans. As an added bonus, these seats come with a direct view of the right field videoboard and are close to one of the largest beer selections at the ballpark.

If tickets near the dugouts are too pricey, head to sections 53 and 54 in left center field. The visitor bullpen is located in front of these sections, giving you a good spot to see your team’s pitchers warm up before and during the game. Arrive early and move a few seats closer to the foul line near sections 4-6 where you’ll have the opportunity to get your hands on a batting practice home run off the bat of one of your favorite players. For night games you can enter the ballpark two hours before first pitch (and 90 minutes for afternoon games).

Whether you’re seated in center field or not, fans visiting the ballpark for the first time are encouraged to visit the Bowtie Plaza. This area includes one of the best selections of ballpark food and tables to sit at; ideal for grabbing a bite before the game starts.

Best Seats for Great Views of the Field at Globe Life Park

With a capacity nearing 50,000, Globe Life Park has no shortages of seats – both good and bad. The stadium is fairly symmetrical with only a few quirks, which makes finding the best seats fairly easy.

For the best overall views of the ballpark, first consider sections 222-230 behind home plate on the club level. All club seats are located at the perfect height to see every inch of the ballpark in a single glance. These comfortable sitelines are made better in the small sections just below the press box. With just four rows in a section, access to the concourse is a breeze and your time away from the action is minimal.

If you prefer to sit closer to the field and don’t mind sitting on the visitor side, look towards sections 18-23 on the third base side of the field. These seats will provide one of the better views from the infield, and will also be head-on towards the main videoboard high above right field. We recommend the higher rows in these sections for instant access to the lower level walkway and for more comfortable views of the ballpark.

For fans on a bit of a budget, seats behind home plate on the 300 level are a fine choice for seeing all the stadium has to offer and for one of the best birds eye views of the game. Just beware of the railing that obstructs views in the first few rows. You’ll do best in rows 5-9 where you’ll have the fewest stairs to walk and will have a clear view of the field.

Other Considerations:

  • The lower walkway is located between the 100s sections and sections numbered less than 100; you may be distracted by pedestrian traffic if seated in the front rows of the 100s.
  • Right field sections are mostly covered by a roof supported by pillars; rows 1-6 in sections 44-47 are your best bet for a clear view.
  • The main videoboard is located high above right field; if deciding between seats on the first and third base sides, opt for third base seats and a direct look at the video screen.

Infrastructure and history

Globe Life Field is a new ballpark being constructed in Arlington, Texas, US, within a parking lot of the Globe Life Park stadium, which is the current home ground of the Texas Rangers baseball team.

Texas Rangers and the City of Arlington are building the 1.7 million square foot ballpark under a public-private partnership. The City of Arlington will own the stadium, while Texas Rangers will be in charge of designing and building the facility.

Texas Rangers and Globe Life And Accident Insurance Company (Globe Life) named the new ballpark under a new naming rights agreement signed in August 2017.

Ground-breaking ceremony of the $1.1bn stadium was conducted in September 2017, and excavation was completed in March 2018. The stadium will be the new home of the Texas Rangers, upon completion in March 2020.

Location of Globe Life Field

The new ballpark is being developed in 13 acres next to the AT&T Stadium (Home of the Dallas Cowboys), and the under-construction Texas Live! Entertainment District.

It will be located across Randol Mill Road from the Globe Life Park stadium and will be accessible through five gates.

Globe Life Field design details

Globe Life Field will have a seating capacity of more than 40,000 and feature an open-viewing theme to create a sense of transparency and asymmetry, as well as enable fans to watch the field from the outside concourses and plaza.

The stadium will feature a low-profile, three-tier retractable roof to the west, which will cover both the infield and the outfield in the event of rain. The design will also incorporate a skylight, allowing natural light to indirectly filter into the stadium even when it is closed, without affecting the vision of players or fans.

The playing surface will be built 70ft below ground level, enabling fans to directly view the game from the outfield. The stadium will also feature a 360º uninterrupted upper concourse, and the seats will be situated closer to the playing surface.

In addition, the ballpark will incorporate a 14ft-high netting behind the dugouts to protect fans from foul balls and stray bats. A climate control system is also part of the stadium, which will protect the players and fans during the warm summer months.

Construction of the new ballpark at Arlington

Construction works of the new ballpark began with the laying of concrete columns in February 2018. The project is estimated to employ more than 2,000 individuals at peak construction.

Major works include excavation, moving sewage lines, storm lines, and necessary utility work. An estimated 97,000 truckloads are required to transport more than 1.3 million cubic yards of dirt from the site.

The stadium construction is estimated to use approximately 35,000t of steel. Further, approximately 6,575 cubic yards of concrete will be used to build 725 concrete columns, while 10,000 cubic yards of concrete will be used for the lower concourse.

Building information modelling (BIM) is being used for the design of the stadium.

Amenities at Globe Life Field

The Globe Life Field will serve as a multipurpose sports and entertainment facility during the off-season, hosting school, college and international level sporting events, as well as entertainment tours.

The field facilities will include a new 400-car parking garage and a total of 24 pedestrian bridges.

Financing of Globe Life Field

The City of Arlington is contributing $500m for the new ballpark and associated infrastructure. The contribution will comprise a half-cent sales tax, 2% hotel occupancy tax, a 5% vehicle rental tax, and $2m a year in rent for the ballpark paid by the Texas Rangers.

The Texas Rangers team will finance the remaining through private loans, cash/equity, parking and ticket tax, and revenue from stadium builder licenses.

Contractors involved

Manhattan Construction Group was awarded the general construction contract for the ballpark project.

CMG Construction Group was sub-contracted by Manhattan Construction for constructing the structural drilled shafts.

HKS is the design architect, while VLK is the associate architect. Stanley D. Lindsey and Associates (SDL) is providing BIM services, while JMEG will provide electrical construction and facilities services.

ME Engineers is providing engineering services and has also engaged Acts 29 for providing mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) consulting services.
