Camp Nou Seating Plan

As with most European stadiums, Camp Nou is built in a Bowl style with continuous fit, and not in an English style with four different stands on each edge of the pitch that you might be used to. The stands are, in fact, named after their geographical location. Here is some information about each.

  1. The North Stand — the entire platform has three different seating levels, with the North Stand being no exception. It is behind one of the goals and looks incredible.
  2. The East stand — visible due to the saying “MES QUE UN CLUB”, or “more than a club”, which is written on the seats, “Eastern stand” runs along the edge of the field.
  3. The South stand — essentially an exact copy of the North Stand, this stand is for a different purpose, and although Spanish stadiums do not always have certain places where the noisiest fans go, like in English venues, this part of the stadium welcomes more of Barca’s vocal fans. This is probably because there are third-party guests at the top of this booth.
  4. The West Stand — The West Stand, which runs along the opposite side of the field to the East Stand, is the main stand in the ground and contains locker rooms, a players tunnel, dugouts and a VIP zone. It is also the only part of the coliseum-like stadium with a roof.

Where to buy tickets?

Know Camp is massive. As a matter of fact, very large. Thus, prices reflect the fact that there are many different places in the ground where you can sit. Because of this, there are not necessarily different prices for different ages or people, such as concessions, who usually expect a discount. Rather, different parts of the stadium have different prices associated with them. The club also classifies its matches, so some games cost more than others.

Here is an example of cost distribution in two different game categories, from the cheapest ticket to the most expensive:

  • Category A: €58-€199;
  • Category B: €20-€90.

How to get tickets to Barcelona

Spain has a slightly different ticket policy than what you are used to in England: match tickets usually go on sale only two weeks before the game. As soon as you get to this point and the tickets are issued, you can buy them by calling the club’s box office by phone, by going to the box office on the site itself, by visiting the Barcelona official website or even buying them through various Servicaixa cash points located throughout the city.

How to get there?

Barcelona may not be the capital of Spain, but it is still one of the country’s most famous cities. As such, it is relatively easy to reach, as the Nou Camp itself is also a fairly simple place to visit.

Camp Nou is located about 5 kilometers from the center of Barcelona at the exit of the city east. Despite the fact that this is a relatively non-central location, it is easy to reach thanks to the city’s efficient transport system. There are a number of ways to get there from all over the city, which you can skip in the sections below.

The stadium itself is part of the Mini Estadi sports complex with Barcelona.

From the city center

Getting to Camp Nou Stadium from the city center is very easy thanks to the efficient and reliable Barcelona metro. From the center, you can take the green metro line (line 3) and head towards Zona Universataria. You can get off at Les Corts, Maria Cristina or Palau Reial (directions from each of these stations below). The total travel time from the city center takes about 25 minutes.

If you are traveling to Camp Nou from the Sagrada Familia, you can take Metro line 5 towards the center of Cornell and get off at Badala or Kolblanca (directions from these stations are described in detail below).

Train

The stadium is easiest to reach by metro thanks to the excellent services of Barcelona, which travel to all areas of the city. There are several stations that surround the stadium, each of which is approximately a 10-minute walk from Camp Nou.

The nearest stations are Palau Reyal, Maria Cristina and Le Cortez on line 3, as well as Badal and Callblanc on line 5. Each station is 500-1 km from the stadium, depending on which gate you are heading to.

  1. From Maria Cristina — turn left after exiting the station and continue on the Avenida Diagonal. Walk past the huge black skyscraper of La Caixa until you reach the Princess Sofia Gran hotel. From there you want to take the first left — Camp Nou is at the end of this road.
  2. From Palau Real — Head left when you exit the station, and then turn left again to Carrer de Marti I Franques — the stadium is at the end of this road.
  3. From Collblanc — Turn right from the station and walk along the Carreer de Sants until you reach the Carrer de la Riera Blanca. Turn left along this road until it turns into C. Aristides Maillol, which houses the stadium.
  4. From Badala — exit the train station and immediately turn onto Carrer de Portbou until you reach Avenida de Madrid. Turn left at it, and then take the next one from the right up to Carrer de Benavent. You can see the stadium at the end of this road.
  5. From Les Corts — just go left down the Travessera de Les Corts until you see the stadium on your right.

Nearest station to each exit:

  • Accesses 1-10: Palau Reial;
  • Accesses 11-16: Collblanc;
  • Accesses 17-19: Badal;
  • Accesses 19-21: Les Corts.

On match days there will be more services to the metro, but keep in mind that during the game in Barcelona, most services will be busy. During the week and on Sundays, the metro is open until midnight. On Saturdays it runs all night.

Barcelona also has a tram system with six different stops in the immediate vicinity of the stadium. Lines T1, T2, and T3 go where you need to and you want to jump onto one of Maria Cristina, Pius XII, Palau Reial, Zona Universitaria, Avinguda de Xile or Sant Ramon.

Bus

There are several bus stops around the stadium, including lines 7, 15, 33, 43, 56, 63, 67, 68, 70, 72, 74, 75, 7 8, 113, 153, 157, 158, and 167.

To get directly to the stadium, jump onto line 75 or L12 and get off at the Estadi del Futbol Club Barcelona stop or grab the H8 line to Les Corts-Arizala.

Many tourist buses also stop at the stadium, where the ticket allows you to jump on and off at any time of the day.

Car

Alternatively, you can get to Camp Nou by car from Ronda da Dalt (motorway leading to the city) and take exit 11 along Diagonal Avenida. Keep right to the tram tracks before turning onto Calle de Sabino Arana, which points to the stadium. Follow the road to the left, then turn right onto Gran Via de Carlos III, then turn right onto Travessa de le Corte. The stadium will soon appear on your right.

By plane

Barcelona International Airport is located 13 km southwest of the city and is the main airport that serves this area. Both the train and the bus go from the airport to the center, so there is good transport connection. Gerona Airport and Reus Airport are over 100 km away and therefore cheaper to fly, but getting to Camp Nou will be more expensive.

Taxi

A taxi from Barcelona International Airport to Camp Nou will take about twenty minutes to complete the trip, and will cost about 25 euros, depending on whether it gets stuck in traffic.

Parking near Camp Nou

Parking is available for Participants on match days, but you need to get a parking permit in advance, and it’s not so easy to find. Parking for Carrer Joan d’Alós is available, but watch out for the various parking restrictions. You can park in the neighboring Reina Sofia hotel, and at the time of writing, you will cost 10 euros.

Camp Nou Availability

The stadium is home to a large number of stairs, which means that it is not entirely suitable for wheelchairs. However, you can still visit the Museum, including the trophy room and the Messi space, as well as get a panoramic view of the stadium from the designated wheelchair route on the second tier.

Camp Nou Hotels

Barcelona is a popular tourist destination, so there are many places to stay in one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. Here are some of our favorite options, which are less than half a mile from the ground.

Yellow Nest Hostel — £70 +

Passatge del Regent Mendieta, 5, Barcelona, 08028

We usually do not recommend hostels, but only this adult has a roof terrace, a games room, a picnic area and free Wi-Fi, so if you don’t mind staying with people who may be strange, then this is worth your consideration.

Hotel Madanis Liceo — £90 +

Calle de Francesc Layret, 2, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona, 08903

This beautiful hotel offers airport transfers, room service, self parking and free Wi-Fi, as well as multilingual staff who can help you with excursions and tickets to other attractions.

Hotel Madanis — £90 +

Riera Blanca, 10, Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona, 08903

This hotel has only thirty rooms, as well as a conference room, restaurant, bar and bicycle rental. You can also use free Wi-Fi if you really need to urgently update Facebook.

Pubs and Bars Near Camp Nou

As is the case with its hotels, you can easily go a few steps around Barcelona without finding a great small bar where you will desperately come. Here are some of our recommendations for a pint before the match.

Bar Guajiro

Carrer Europa, 20, 08028 Barcelona

Tapas and food alone make it worth a visit, as the various beers and drinks offered simply add glaze to the well-known cake. The fact that it is a short walk from the ground also helps its cause.

Infussion bar

Carrer de Deu i Mata, 10, 08014, Barcelona

This place, which can be found as far as possible from the sports bar, is still worthy of your time. It is a fusion of tastes and impressions of the Mediterranean, East and other places in the world, and it looks like a Moroccan zoko. It is wonderful.

The Wild Rover Irish Pub

Carrer de Santa Mònica, 2, 08001 Barcelona

Not a single foreign stadium guide can do without an Irish bar. The Irish Wild Rover Bar is exactly what you would expect from such a place: all shamrocks, traditional Irish music and sports broadcasts on giant screens. It is farther from Camp Nou than the other two places on our list, but not far from the center of Barcelona, so getting to it is not difficult.

Facilities

The facilities at Know Camp are exactly what you expect from one of the largest and most famous football stadiums in the world. There are places where you can buy food and drinks in the halls, as well as all the usual things, such as toilets.

Hospitality

Hospitality abroad is often not at all what you are used to experiencing in the UK. Sometimes you need to pay more big money, for example, to have a convenient place with a magnificent view. Here is some information about some of the packages offered at Nou Camp:

  • VIP Gold — these seats are sold as some of the best in the stadium, and given that they are next to the dugouts, it’s easy to see why. You are close enough to the action to see the expressions on the faces of the players, and you will also gain access to the VIP lounge called Avantllotja d’Honor.
  • VIP Palladium — from one extreme to the other, VIP Palladium seats are located on the third level of the rostrum. However, they are located in the covered section and you also get access to the Roma ’09 VIP Lounge included in your ticket.
  • VIP Silver Gol — Your seat with this package is in the front row of the second tier of The South Stand, behind the target. In addition to being able to watch everything from an ideal point of view, you can also visit one of two halls: the Mediapro Lounge and the Avantillotja Lateral VIP Lounge — both of which are for your entertainment.

Private rental

Camp Nou can now host corporate meetings, presentations, birthday parties, 7-sided tournaments and even weddings. This was not always the case, but Barcelona began to realize that it was a great way to make money, while at the same time giving fans access to the stadium of their heroes in ways that were simply impossible before.

History

Construction

The construction of Camp Nou began on March 28, 1954, as there was no room for expansion at the previous stadium in Barcelona, Camp de Le Corts. Although it was initially planned to be called Estadi del FC Barcelona, name Camp Nou has been used more often. The June 1950 signing of László Kubala, regarded as one of Barcelona’s greatest players, provided further impetus to the construction of a larger stadium.

The architects were Francesc Mitjans and Josep Soteras with the collaboration of Lorenzo Garcia-Barbona.

Development

The stadium’s capacity varied significantly over the years, opening at 106,146, but increasing to 121,401 for the 1982 FIFA World Cup.

In addition to accommodation in Barcelona, the Catalan team is located in Camp Nou. The stadium is often used for other football events. The European Cup final between Milan and Steaua București was held on May 24, 1989, the Italian club won with a score of 4:0. Camp Nou hosted part of the football competitions, including the finals, at the 1992 Summer Olympics. In preparation for these matches, two additional seat levels were installed above the previous roof line.

Camp Nou has undergone minor changes since 1982, with the exception of the opening of the club museum in 1984. The stadium underwent reconstruction in 1993–94, when the pitch was reduced by 2.5 meters (8 feet), the safety gap separating the lawn from the galleries was removed, and the standing room was excluded in favor of individual seats. The new press center, the repair of the presidential tribune and boxes, the new parking under the main tribune, as well as new lighting and sound systems were completed by the 1998–99 season. In 1999, UEFA banned permanent stadium stadiums, and Camp Nou’s capacity reached its current level. Later that year, the UEFA Champions League final of 1999 was held at the stadium, where Manchester United played for Bayern. United won 2–1, returning from 0–1 during an injury.

In 1998–99, UEFA rated Camp Nou a five-star stadium for its services and functionality.

In 2000, fans were questioned about the name of the stadium. Of the 29,102 votes received by the club, a total of 19,861 (68.25%) preferred Camp Nou to Estadi del FC Barcelona, and thus the official name was changed to a popular nickname.

Facilities now include a memorabilia store, training mini-fields and a chapel for players. The stadium also houses the second most visited museum in Catalonia, the Barcelona Museum, which receives more than 1.2 million visitors a year.

On October 1, 2017, the Barcelona vs. Las Palmas match was held at the empty Camp Nou due to political instability in the region.

Repair and expansion

The club has announced an international tender for the reconstruction of the stadium in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of the stadium. The goal was to make the facility an integrated and well-visible urban environment. The club planned to increase the number of seats by 13,500, while at least half of the total number of seats should be undercover. The intention was to make it the third largest stadium in the world (in terms of capacity) after the Indianapolis race track in the USA (capacity 297,000 people) and the Rungnado May Day Stadium in North Korea (capacity 114,000 seats).

On September 18, 2007, British architect Norman Foster and his company were selected to “restructure” Camp Nou. Estimated at €250 million, the plan added some 6,000 seats for a maximum capacity of 105,000. The Barcelona FC Board approved the sale of its former Mini Estadi training ground against significant opposition to finance the reconstruction. The project was planned to start in 2009 and complete in the 2011–12 season. However, due to the financial crisis of 2008, the sale of the training ground was postponed, as well as the reconstruction project. In May 2010, Sandro Rosell, the then presidential candidate for FC Barcelona, rejected the possibility of selling the Mini Estadi, saying that “selling crown jewels” would be unjustified, and his election on June 30, 2010 effectively halted the plan to remodel Camp Nou.

In January 2014, the Barcelona board of directors rejected the option of building a new stadium due to financial constraints and instead decided to rebuild the Camp Nou to bring the capacity to 105,000 people.
