Who wore number 35 in football?

There is nothing in and of itself “wrong” with the number; it is a byproduct of larger squads over 23 players.

Gabriel Martinelli

Gabriel Teodoro Martinelli Silva is a Brazilian professional footballer who is known as a forward for Premier League club Arsenal. Martinelli began his senior club career playing for Ituano, prior to signing for English club Arsenal in July 2019, aged 18.

At international level, Martinelli decided to represent the Brazil under-23s. He helped Brazil win an Olympic Gold in men’s football at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Eldin Jakupović

Eldin Jakupović is a Bosnian-born Swiss professional footballer who is known as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Leicester City.

He started his professional career at Grasshopper Club Zürich in 2004, then moved to FC Thun a year later. After success there, Jakupović joined FC Lokomotiv Moscow in March 2006. He returned to Grasshoppers on loan spending two seasons there. In 2010, he moved to Greece joining Olympiakos Volou. In September 2011, after one season at Olympiakos Volou, he joined Aris. In 2012, he moved to Hull City. In 2017, he left Hull City after their relegation back to the EFL Championship to join Premier League side Leicester City.

Having played at under-21 level for both Bosnia and Switzerland, he earned his only senior cap for the latter in 2008, and was part of their squad at UEFA Euro 2008.

Demetri Mitchell

Demetri Kareem Mitchell is an English professional footballer who is known as a left-back or as a winger for EFL Championship club Blackpool.

Mitchell is a graduate of the Manchester United youth system and won the Denzil Haroun Reserve Player of the Year award in 2018. He made a single senior appearance for the club, in a Premier League game in May 2017, and had two spells on loan at Scottish club Heart of Midlothian. In September 2020, shortly after being released by United, he joined Blackpool.

Mitchell represented England at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-20 levels. He was a member of the under-17 squad which won the 2014 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship.

Kyle Scott

Kyle Michael Scott is a professional soccer player who is known as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club FC Cincinnati. Born in England, he has played international soccer at youth level for a few countries, including the United States under-20 national team.

Daniel Bachmann

Daniel Bachmann is an Austrian professional footballer who is known as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Watford and the Austria national team.

Bachmann began his career with Stoke City in 2011. During his time at Stoke, he gained first-team experience by going out on loan to Wrexham, Scottish side Ross County and Bury. Bachmann moved to Watford in 2017 and spent the 2018–19 season on loan at Kilmarnock.

Cameron Archer

Cameron Desmond Archer is an English professional footballer who is known as a forward for Premier League club Aston Villa. Archer is a product of the Aston Villa Academy. He joined the Aston Villa academy aged eight from local side Walsall and has progressed through all age groups to the first team, making his senior debut in August 2019.

Tudor Baluta

Tudor Cristian Băluță is a Romanian professional footballer who is known for playing for Brighton & Hove Albion, and the Romanian national team.

Băluță is deployed primarily as a defensive midfielder, but started out as a central defender. He has been likened to former Romanian international and Barcelona captain Gheorghe Popescu, also a native of Dolj County, who in his turn described Băluță as an “intelligent player” with “exceptional qualities”.

Rob Elliot

Robert Elliot is a professional footballer who is known as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Watford. Elliot also played for the Republic of Ireland national team.

Elliot began his career with Erith Town, before joining Charlton Athletic’s academy side. Whilst at Charlton, he was sent out on loan to Bishop’s Stortford and Notts County, and also spent two loan spells at Accrington Stanley, where he was nicknamed “The Dilsh”. He would then go on to be Charlton’s first choice goalkeeper for a number of seasons, until he joined Newcastle United on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2011. Signed mainly as a back-up to Tim Krul, he featured for the club sporadically, but became first choice in the 2015–16 season after Krul suffered a season-ending injury.

Through the origins of his father’s family, Elliot became eligible to represent the Republic of Ireland national football team, and was first called up in 2013, making his debut the following year. Elliot retired from the first team in 2017.

In June 2020 Elliot was released by Newcastle United after nine years. In January 2021, Elliot signed for Watford until the end of the 2020–21 season. In June 2021, Elliot signed a new 2-year contract with Watford.

Darren Randolph

Darren Edward Andrew Randolph is an Irish professional footballer who is known as a goalkeeper for Premier League club West Ham United and the Republic of Ireland national team. He has previously played for the Republic of Ireland U21 team. Randolph has also represented Ireland at basketball.

Having progressed through the youth ranks at Ardmore Rovers and Premier League club Charlton Athletic, Randolph turned professional in 2004 with Charlton. He spent time on loan at Welling United, Accrington Stanley and Gillingham before making his Charlton debut in the last match of the 2006–07 season. Despite the club’s relegation from the Premier League, he was unable to cement a regular starting position, and had two loan spells during 2008, at Bury and at Hereford United. Having made just 20 appearances for Charlton in six years, he moved on to Scottish Premier League side Motherwell in July 2010. He played regularly for Motherwell over three years, then returned to England to join Birmingham City, for whom he missed only one Championship match in two seasons. He signed for West Ham United in 2015 and Middlesbrough two years later.

In 2006, Randolph made ten appearances for the Republic of Ireland under-21 side, and a single appearance for the Republic of Ireland B team. He made his full international debut for the Republic of Ireland in September 2012, in a 4–1 victory over Oman. He played for the nation at UEFA Euro 2016.
