In soccer, the striker is the team’s most powerful forward. The striker is usually the forward who scored the most points as well, playing toward the center part of the field. Strikers are also often known as forwards or attackers, although they used to be called inside forward on the more common thief. Their position is closest to the goal of the opposing team and they are the soccer team members most responsible for scoring a goal in getting the ball past the soccer goalie on the opposing team.
Postmodern soccer teams have anywhere between one and three strikers. In most cases, soccer coaches may appoint two strikers. Strikers are an important part of successful soccer game, in which goals are scored by the frontline of the soccer team formation.
