Pylon
The pylon is the orange rectangular marker defining the edges of the end zones. Each pylon is located in the corresponding corner. All space outside them is considered out-of-bounds. They help officials to determine the scoring or if the player left the field bounds there. The constructions don’t have attachments to the field so that the players can move them.
The referee must control the initial lineup of pylons. Each end zone has eight pylons. Their first half is located at the ends of the goal line along the sideline in line with the goal line. Other group locate similarly, but their outer side matches the outer ends.
The modern pylons for goal lines contain the cameras. Thus, the referee can see if the player’s body and the ball crossed the pylon’s plane to confirm touchdown. However, these cams don’t answer all close calls. Today’s technological advancements give the cameras a 360-degree view, zoom tracking and 4K resolution.
