Pass defense
The pass defense is a synonym for pass coverage. It relates to players attempting to stop the offensive throw attempt. The defense pressures the quarterback and tries to find the gaps to sack the gap, catch the pass, or make the pass incomplete.

There are two ways of the pass defense. Man-to-man blocking means each defender has its target. That helps to spread the power more efficiently. The defensive linemen counteract the offensive linemen to interfere with the quarterback. The secondary players target the possible catchers – running backs, tight ends, and wide receivers.
Zone defense supposes the defenders will cover the determined zone of the field. That approach is less efficient because the wide receiver can squeeze through the gap between the defensive tackle and guard when the performers distract the linemen.
