The interference divides into two types – offensive and defensive. Offensive pass interference consists in the push of the defender. The receiver does such action to clear a way for the catch. But it’s sometimes risky due to chance of getting out of bounds. If the defender tries to grab or push the receiver, it’s a defensive interference.
College football officials award the offense with an automatic first down and move the ball 15 yards forward in the opposite direction. Professional referees start it in the place of foul.
