Bye week
What is bye week in football?
The bye week supposes the legal right of the team to rest. It bases on the team’s schedule. Most have the interval between week 4 and week 12. However, there are some unofficial rules. If Thanksgiving comes on week 12, Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions can’t consider the bye week as they take part in traditional doubleheaders that day.
This formula has dealt with revisions. Each expansion changed the number of teams. That affected that one team had a couple of bye weeks per season while the others couldn’t expect it as they had to play all games without a break. The NFL transformed that rule in 1990, adding one more week to increase the number of game broadcasts.
