31 jersey number in cricket

A cricket player’s jersey number is their form of identification in the game. You may even call it a tag. Every player has an inscription of this significant number alongside their surname at the back of their jersey. It is easier to remember the jersey number of a cricketer than their actual name.

David Warner

David Warner is an Australian international cricketer and a former vice captain of the Australian national team. A left-handed opening batsman, Warner is the first Australian cricketer in 132 years to be selected for a national team in any format without experience in first-class cricket. He is considered as one of the best batters of his era. He chose to play for New South Wales and played for the Sydney Thunder in domestic cricket. He served as the Australian vice-captain across Test and ODI formats of the game between 2015 and 2018.

In January 2017, he became the fourth player to win the Allan Border Medal more than once and also win the award in consecutive years. On 28 September 2017, he played in his 100th ODI and became the first batsman for Australia and 8th batsman overall to score a century in his 100th ODI.

In March 2018, following a preliminary investigation into ball tampering by the Australian team in the third match of their Test series against South Africa, he was suspended, charged with bringing the game into disrepute. Following a board meeting on 28 March 2018, Cricket Australia banned Warner from all international and domestic cricket in Australia for one year, and from any leadership positions permanently.

In November 2019, Warner scored one of the highest individual scores by any Australian Test batsman with 335 not out against Pakistan.

Warner is known for his aggressive left-handed batting style favoring the aerial route and for his ability to switch hit, using the back of his bat or by taking a right-handed stance. He prefers to score on his off side, and has a very high strike rate as a Test batsman.

He is an athletic fielder and also a part-time spin bowler. His bowling style is rare in that he mixes medium-pace bowling with his more usual leg spin bowling. At just 170 cm in stature Warner generates his batting power from strong forearms and his low centre of gravity allows him to get underneath deliveries and hit them high in the air. In a Twenty20 match for New South Wales in 2009, he hooked a six off Shaun Tait that landed on the roof of the Adelaide Oval, only a month after hooking the same bowler 20 rows back at the SCG.

Martin Guptill

Martin James Guptill is a New Zealand international cricketer who plays as an opening batsman in limited overs formats of the game. Guptill is the first cricketer from New Zealand and the fifth overall to have scored a double century in a One Day International match and set the record for the highest individual score in Cricket World Cup matches and the second highest score in One Day Internationals of 237 not out. In March 2021, Guptill played in his 100th T20I match.

Guptill has scored more than 600 T20I runs in the Eden Park cricket stadium. He is the first player to score 500 and 600 plus T20I runs in a single venue.

He captained Maharashtra in T20 in the 2021 Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

According to Gaikwad, he is a gap-oriented player and the one-day format suits him more than Test and T20. He likes to hit boundaries and is not renowned for his ability to hit big shots.
