Catcher’s framing
What is catcher’s framing in baseball?
What is practical meaning of the catcher’s framing?
The catcher framing is a special technique. A catcher receives the pitch in a way that the umpire calls a strike. It can turn the borderline ball into a strike, not losing the strike because of poor framing. This measure bases on the area width of two baseballs around the edge of the strike zone.
This index has three ways to express in the leaderboard. The strike rate shows the conversion of the non-swings on the edge of zone to strikes. Another method is the conversion of strikes to runs. It also may be zone diversification. There are 8 zones and the statisticians often break the strikes from there.
