Balk
What is balk in baseball?
When do umpires call the balk?
The balk happens when the pitcher commits an illegal motion. It allows the player to pretend for pitch even without the intention to do so. According to the official rulebook, the instant or delayed dead ball follows it. The officials null the pitch. Each runner gets the base. The batter stays at-bat with its current count.

There are a number of cases when the umpires call the balk. One example refers to the swinging of positions without previous disengaging of the rubber. The pitcher may make the motion on a rubber signaling about a pitch but without the delivery. Any steps to the third or first base also cause the balk. The same result happens when the pitcher delays the game. Other sets are regarded individually.
